Welchol® (USA brand)  is a medication that is used to lower cholesterol levels in the body. It belongs to a class of drugs called bile acid sequestrants, which work by binding to bile acids in the intestines and preventing them from being reabsorbed back into the body. By doing so, Welchol helps to remove bile acids from the body, which in turn reduces cholesterol levels.
