Vorapaxar is a medication that is commonly used to prevent blood clots in patients who have a history of stroke or heart attack. It belongs to a class of drugs called protease-activated receptor-1 (PAR-1) antagonists. Vorapaxar works by blocking the action of a protein called PAR-1, which plays a role in platelet activation and clot formation. By inhibiting PAR-1, vorapaxar helps to prevent blood clots from forming and reduces the risk of recurrent stroke or heart attack.
